~$300 per prosthetic arm

Founded by Anas Niaz , Bioniks is tackling a global access problem in prosthetics. Today, an estimated 80 million people worldwide lack access to prosthetic limbs due to high costs and limited availability of services.

Bioniks builds AI-powered prosthetic arms and hands , combining digital workflows and manufacturing to make customized prosthetics more accessible. Their goal is simple: make advanced prosthetics reachable for people who would otherwise go without.

What are they building?

Bioniks develops AI-powered, muscle-controlled prosthetic arms and hands designed to restore everyday function and independence. Their approach combines AI-enabled limbs with custom-fit design supported by digital measurement workflows, including mobile app–enabled 3D scanning for remote users—reducing reliance on traditional, clinic-only pathways.

Built for affordability and scalability, Bioniks is rethinking how prosthetics are designed and delivered so users can return to daily routines, from holding a glass of water to going back to school or work.

The why?

Bioniks Arm Fitted for Sidra (First User from Gaza)

Bioniks began in 2016 after Anas received a message from a family whose child was born without a hand. When he asked what kind of prosthetic he wanted, the child replied: “I need an Iron Man hand.”

That moment changed everything. What started as one family’s request quickly revealed a much larger reality — millions of people live without prosthetic access, not because solutions don’t exist, but because they are out of reach.

One experience continues to define the mission. After receiving his prosthetic, a 28-year-old man born without a hand was able to drink water independently for the first time. He cried — not because of the technology, but because of what it meant.

For Bioniks, prosthetics are not just devices. They are about restoring confidence, independence, and dignity.

SEED Inclusivity Program Journey

During SEED Inclusivity, Bioniks valued that the program felt focused and relevant to what they were building. The mentorship was practical, and the peer group created space for honest conversations about scaling in assistive technology.

They described the SIGMA platform as a “game changer,” helping structure ideas and turn expansion plans into clearer next steps. The program reinforced their belief that inclusive innovation is not a niche — it’s a scalable opportunity.
