India | 6 years | Digital Accessibility

Founded by Dipti Prasad and Kunaal Prasad, XL Cinema is transforming the entertainment industry by making movies accessible to visually impaired audiences. Under their company, Brajma Intelligent Systems Pvt. Ltd., they created a mobile-first solution that brings audio descriptions and multi-language support to cinemas and OTT platforms—without any extra hardware or disruption to theater infrastructure.

What are they building?

XL Cinema is a mobile application and SDK platform that delivers synchronized audio descriptions (AD) and multi-language dubbing for films, making the movie-watching experience inclusive for visually impaired users.

Key features include:

  • A seamless, AI-powered app that syncs perfectly with movie playback in theaters and at home
  • Affordable and scalable audio description generation
  • Integration with OTT platforms and cinema chains
  • Developer tools (SDK) for partners to easily embed accessibility features

By removing the need for expensive equipment or alterations to cinema setups, XL Cinema offers a plug-and-play accessibility solution for the entire entertainment industry.ing users where they are: at home, at work, or in transit.

The why?

The idea behind XL Cinema was born from a deeply emotional realization: cinema is for everyone, but not everyone can experience it equally.

During volunteering experiences, Dipti Prasad connected closely with the visually impaired community and saw how excluded they felt from simple joys like going to the movies. At the same time, Kunaal Prasad, a technologist with a track record in solving real-world problems, knew this was a gap that technology could fix—if built with empathy.

Together, their complementary strengths—Dipti’s business and user empathy, Kunaal’s engineering and innovation—sparked a mission to bridge that emotional gap in storytelling. XL Cinema was never just about audio. It was about restoring dignity, inclusion, and connection through the universal language of film.

SEED Inclusivity Program Journey

One of the most defining moments of XL Cinema’s SEED Inclusivity journey was realizing, through both mentorship and peer feedback, that accessibility is not a niche—it’s a mainstream opportunity.

The program helped the team shift their mindset: from seeing accessibility as a support feature to positioning it as a core value proposition for the entertainment industry. With guidance from mentors and real-time discussions with other founders, they sharpened their pitch—not just around inclusion, but around economic opportunity, global scalability, and impact at scale.

Mentorship also reinforced the idea that empathy, when combined with strong technology, creates more than products — it creates hope and independence.
